Miss Soweto.jpg

Last december Miss Soweto Lebogang Monggae
had an interview with the Star news paper at the Lamunu hotel, in Braamfontein JHB.

Amongst other things Lebogang mentioned that:

"I have started working on water and fire safety, as well as road safety education campaigns. Identified communities will be empowered with knowledge of what to do when someone is drowning or there is a fire."

"There is definitely potential in Soweto, which is already a model for other townships, but it is important that locals are empowered and equipped with relevant skills so they can be part of this growth."

She also mentioned that:

"The youth are so into cyber-socialising like Facebook and Twitter, which means there is no need for physical contact. We can form groups where individuals will be able to communicate and seek guidance and advice from identified mentors in different fields."

"I believed entering Miss Soweto would help me come out of my comfort zone, being an introvert, and provide me with a platform to shed this weakness. I was not, however, going to do it for this reason alone – I also wanted to win."
